Frankie Liles was and is definitely one of the most talented fighters to ever grace the super middleweight division. He had it all: the skill and the savvy, the power and the size. He was especially known for his right hand. At 6'2 and a half he was an exceptionally big super middleweight and always came to fight in supreme shape, his body always well-toned and muscular. In other words, he was a splendid thing to behold in the ring.
Liles had a stellar amateur career, winning a bronze medal at the 1987 Pan American Games and compiling an Amateur Record of 285-14.
Known as "Fabulous", Liles had a very successful pro career that began in 1988. In 1994 he beat Steve Little to capture the Lineal and WBA super middleweight titles. He successfully defended the title seven times over a five-year span. His professional record is 35 fights with 32 wins (19 by KO) and 3 losses.
Liles worked as a trainer for the Japanese kickboxing organization called K-1 from 2003-2009. He spent a great deal of time training athletes oversees, mostly in Japan. Liles was the head trainer for several K-1 fighters including Musashi, Remy Bonjasky, & Bob Sapp. Liles has also worked with many American boxers including the likes of Manny Pacquiao, whose trainer Freddie Roach was Frankie's trainer for much of his career.
